Soul Craving [April 24, 2011] - Easter Sunday
Amanda Stephenson's monologue as Mary Magdalene Sermon Notes Matthew 28:1-8 (NLT) 1 Early on Sunday morning, as the new day was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went out to see the tomb. 2 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, because an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and rolled aside the stone and sat on it. 3 His face shone like lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow.4 The guards shook with fear when they saw him, and they fell into a dead faint. 5 Then the angel spoke to the women. "Don't be afraid!" he said. "I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He isn't here! He has been raised from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. 7 And now, go quickly and tell his disciples he has been raised from the dead, and he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Remember, I have told you." 8 The women ran quickly from the tomb. They were very frightened but also filled with great joy, and they rushed to find the disciples to give them the angel's message. Romans 5:10 (MSG) 10 If, when we were at our worst, we were put on friendly terms with God by the sacrificial death of his Son, now that we're at our best, just think of how our lives will expand and deepen by means of his resurrection life! Luke 5:32 (MSG) 32 I'm here inviting outsiders, not insiders—an invitation to a changed life, changed inside and out." 1. OPEN YOUR HEART TO GOD’S GRACE. Ephesians 1:8 (TLB) 8 and he has showered down upon us the richness of his grace--for how well he understands us and knows what is best for us at all times. Romans 3:25 (MSG) 25 God sacrificed Jesus on the altar of the world to clear that world of sin. Having faith in him sets us in the clear. God decided on this course of action in full view of the public—to set the world in the clear with himself through the sacrifice of Jesus, finally taking care of the sins he had so patiently endured. 2. OPEN YOUR LIFE TO GOD’S LOVE. Eph 3:16-19 I pray that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite Him in and that you will be able to feel and understand how long and wide and deep and high His love is and to experience this love for yourselves. |
